The 26th National Exporters' Forum, organized by the Sri Lanka Export Development Board (EDB), was successfully held today (19) at the NDB-EDB Tower premises in Colombo.
The meeting was chaired by the Minister of Industry and Entrepreneurship Development, Hon. Sunil Handunnetti, alongside the Deputy Minister of Digital Economy, Eng. Eranga Weeraratne.
The Exporters' Forum functions to provide state-sector solutions for practical issues and challenges faced by individual producers and exporters across various sectors. Discussions focused on addressing the issues presented by exporters, strengthening communication between state institutions and the export community, and delivering policy-level as well as digital-technological solutions.
Speaking at the event, Minister Sunil Handunnetti emphasized the importance of maintaining a close relationship between exporters and the government. He proposed establishing a dedicated digital portal where exporters can log their issues, track resolved matters, and identify ongoing challenges. Furthermore, he highlighted the importance of convening similar forums periodically to specifically focus on and resolve unresolved issues identified through this portal.
Additionally, it was officially announced at the meeting that "Sri Lanka Expo 2027," the largest international trade exhibition in Sri Lanka's export sector, is scheduled to take place from January 14 to 17, 2027.
The event was attended by the Minister of Fisheries, Aquatic and Ocean Resources, Hon. Ramalingam Chandrasekar, the Chairman of the Export Development Board, Mangala Wijesinghe, along with officials representing various ministries and state institutions, and leading exporters from across the island.
