SLT Group Unveils Financial Results for the First Half of 2026

The financial progress achieved by the SLT-MOBITEL Group, as a key technology partner in empowering Sri Lanka’s national digital economy, is not merely a business achievement but also a significant step forward in the country’s digital economy journey and the media briefing to announce the SLT-MOBITEL Group’s financial results for the first half of 2026 was held on 17th August at the Shangri-La Hotel, Colombo.

Speaking at the media briefing, Hon. Deputy Minister of Digital Economy, Eng. Eranga Weeraratne, stated that despite global economic challenges and rising energy costs, the SLT Group’s revenue increased by 11.1% during the second quarter of 2026, while profit after tax recorded a notable growth of 54.4%, exceeding Rs. 6.6 billion. He noted that these results are a strong testament to the Group’s stability and excellent management. The Deputy Minister also commended the Group’s significant contribution to government revenue, noting that SLT-MOBITEL contributed Rs. 33.7 billion to the Treasury in 2025 through taxes and other government levies.

The Deputy Minister further highlighted the highly commendable contribution made by SLT-MOBITEL towards bridging the digital divide between urban and rural communities through its nationwide Fibre network infrastructure, the Lanka Government Network (LGN) and Lanka Government Cloud (LGC) infrastructure that support e-government services, the SEA-ME-WE 6 international submarine cable system connected to the mainland at Matara, and the School Fiberization Project, which is being implemented to enable the digitalization of the country’s school system.

He further stated that the national initiative, “Sri Lanka AI Week 2026,” scheduled to be held from 28th September to 4th October 2026, will provide significant impetus towards establishing Sri Lanka as a hub for AI technology. The event was attended by SLT Group Chairman Dr. Mothilal de Silva, SLT-MOBITEL Chief Executive Officer Riyaaz Rasheed, Sri Lanka Telecom PLC Chief Financial Officer Sanjeewa Samaranayake, along with members of the SLT Group’s management and staff, as well as officials from the Ministry of Digital Economy.
